All sounds were recorded exclusively in the Electronic Music Lab at the University of Saskatchewan's Music Department, late at night on two occasions in two different years. One of the recordings took place September 10, 2001, "Part Two", a premonition of the chaos that the world would feel that next morning. "Part One", is a post-911 composition of 2002, with the message that when all else fails, oh well, "Here's Some Music"! Nuthre and Vaughn's first collaboration for BricoLodge, and the their third collaboration to be released on net.labels, with other releases on Nishi and Panospria. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ _artist_statement Here's Some Music -> Liner Notes Here some music is -> bushings notices Is here Some Music -> the Grades of Paquebot Here Some Music is -> line apparatus Annotations Here - Some Music> Notes of the Liner Here is Some Music -> Notes of Transatlantic 1st - transparency of process 1st - foil of works First - the draft transparency 1-st - a transparency of process 1st - transparency of processes First - transparency of processes volume vs. loudness vs. frequency range & psycho-acoustics. volume against volume against frequency range & psycho pathos acoustics. the volume vs. the volume vs. the frequency range & the crazy acoustics. volume against luidheid against frequency reach & psychoot-acoustic. One of the main players in the Saskatoon jazz and electronic scenes, his ensembles and solo work can be heard regularly throughout the city. Jon_Vaughn __________ As an essential bad seed that makes mutations go off, Jon Vaughn's prolific practice spans DJing, improvisation, production, composition, event programming, VJing, painting, workshop facilitation, and playing zombies in low-budget quickies. Vaughn's electronic & electroacoustic music production works with experimental concepts and approaches to cultures of sound & how they are organized and connected or not why & what if, etc, while also exploiting various techno genres through his energetic, seamless, and shockingly fun style of performance. Always pushing himself to find the next aural fascination, Vaughn moves through many genres in his DJing repertoire, mixing old and new together to create deeply referential juxtapositions that can be appreciated by the seasoned ear. Digging deeper in Vaughn's musical closet, one finds a treasure trail of improvisation, collaborative compositions, and a maybe even a guitar. Renound for his exceptionally rich and detailed spastic delicacy, as well as his pervasive sense of humour, Jon Vaughn stands alone with his risqué audiopolitiks. Jon Vaughn is co-Director of the BricoLodge net.label with fellow artist and main-brain Carrie Gates, which is a culmination of the their pan-Canadian and International love networks, which span other net.labels (in which you will find more of Vaughn's releases) such as No Type, Panospria, Nishi & Slapart. Vaughn also helps develop the fabric of his community by organizing events with his collegues, selected events include: Digidome Festival of Electronic Art, hosted by Saskatoon-based artist-run centre paved Art & New Media in the (RIP) Ramada Golf Dome Digidome and Phantom Power, hosted by The Kennedy Gallery in North Bay Ontario in a very old haunted opera house. In October of 2003, Vaughn released an CD with the Montreal-based label and collective, No Type. The disc was released in conjuction with a live performance at the No Type-cureated Pre-rien sub-series of the Rien-a-Voir festival. The CD is entitled 'Front', and is the result of an intense three-year collaboration with Halifax-based activist and audio-visual artist, Max Haiven. Front is undoubtably Vaughn's (and Haiven's) most experimental, challenging, complex, and enjoyable work to date. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BricoLodge is a net.label for eclectic techno, playful composition and complex experimentation that emerged from artistic and cultural exchanges between the site directors, Carrie Gates and Jon Vaughn and other artists from across Canada and the world since the turn of the 21st Century. http://www.notype.com/bricolodge/ bricolodge@gmail.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
