Now here's a quirky item in the TT catalogue. Krakenti, an artist from Latvia sent us this album of slow-growing ambient IDM. Each track inches its way along, building and mutating in lazy cycles. The beginnings of these tracks are often in no way indicative of how they will end, which we feel is a very good thing. Elements come in and out of the music in a simplistic way that lets everything be heard pass by pass.

These pieces are a lot like caterpillars themselves, and as we know not all caterpillars are cute and fuzzy. Though crisp and ambient some of these tracks may be, big bristling brutal beats emerge at will. Crunchy stuff in the ears for sure.

More from Krakenti to come? Maybe so...
